The business exists because of a pattern we kept seeing on emergency calls. The spring that snapped had been audibly straining for months. The cable that parted had been fraying where nobody looks. The door that came off the track had been running crooked since spring. None of it was sudden, it was just unobserved.

What We Actually Do

The same checklist, every visit, in the same order: balance test, spring condition and cycle estimate, cable and drum inspection, rollers and hinges, lubrication in the correct places, and both safety reversal tests.

You get a written note of what is wearing and roughly how long it has left. Next year there is something to compare it against, which is the entire point of doing it on a schedule.

The Coastal Part

Long Beach doors do not age like inland doors. Salt in the marine layer corrodes lift cables from the inside of the strand, so a cable that looks perfect can be close to failing. It creates stress points on springs so they give out well short of their rated cycles. And it gets into the bottom seam of a steel door and works outward.

That is why we inspect cables on every visit here regardless of the reason for the call, and why we suggest yearly rather than every other year within a mile or so of the water.
